‘Stop this nonsense’ – Fans stunned as Man Utd suffer injury nightmare as Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund forced off after just 30 minutes against Arsenal.
The Red Devils saw Rasmus Hojlund and new signing Leny Yoro subbed off with injury in the early stages of their match against Arsenal in Los Angeles.
Rasmus Hojlund headed down the tunnel early with an injury
Hojlund was treated by medical staff on the pitch
New signing Leny Yoro was also forced off with injury, just moments later
The young defender looked gutted as he limped off the pitch
United’s star striker trudged down the tunnel with a knock, being replaced by Hannibal Mejbri.
While Yoro was also taken off for Rhys Bennett after picking up an injury himself.
Hojlund, who has just been handed the no9 shirt at Old Trafford, was treated by medical staff after going down in the middle of the park.
But despite long conversations with the physio’s, the injury was deemed serious enough to take him off the pitch.
Hojlund seemed to have signaled to the bench off his own back rather than being challenged to create the injury.
The artificial pitch utilized for the game has previously resulted in serious injury to players.
Only five minutes after he had given Erik ten Hag’s team the lead, Hojlund’s game had gone from high to low in a couple of minutes.
And United’s night immediately went downhill too, conceding an equaliser at the hands of Gabriel Jesus just over 10 minutes after Hojlund’s exit.
Followed quickly afterwards by Yoro’s exit.
The 18-year-old centre-back, who arrived earlier this month from Lille, looked distraught and could be seen shaking his head as he left the pitch.
Man Utd fans were just as distraught by the double blow and took to social media to react to losing two of their players so early on.
One wrote: “Hojlund and Yoro injured within 30 minutes! PLEASE STOP THIS NONSENSE!!”
While another added: “Hojlund and Yoro injured. We’re just not allowed nice things.”
A third commented: “We need to sack our medical department man!”
And a fourth fumed: “Can they cancel this match already?! The pitch is terrible ffs!!”
At present the severity of both the injuries is unknown, but pundits on Man Utd’s MUTV channel suggested it could have been a hamstring injury for Hojlund.
While Yoro hobbled off the field, it was speculated that the blow may have been to his ankle.
In the upcoming weeks, as United gets ready to take on some more difficult preseason tests, they may be missing two key players.
Ten Hag’s team still has to play Liverpool and Real Betis before facing Man City in the Community Shield opener.
Rasmus Hojlund managed to bag the game’s opening goal before picking up an injury
