Real Madrid learn Ferland Mendy’s suspension decision.
The French defender was shown a straight red card in the 90+7 minute after a dangerous tackle on a Mallorca player.
Mendy was given a one-match ban by default for the red card, but there is a chance that the ban could be extended if the tackle is deemed to be violent conduct
Real Madrid’s La Liga opener against Mallorca left fans disappointed. Carlo Ancelotti’s stars could only manage a point in a 1-1 draw at Son Moix, and the hosts were fully deserving of the point. Los Blancos’ frustrations were compounded in the closing minutes when Ferland Mendy was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Vedat Muriqi.
.
However, fortunately for Real Madrid, the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee has decided not to extend Mendy’s suspension, according to Relevo.
This means the French defender will only miss Sunday’s game against Real Valladolid and will be back in contention next Friday when Los Blancos face Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.
Fran Garcia will temporarily deputise for Mendy at the Santiago Bernabeu and will be hoping to add to Real Madrid’s efforts to claim their first La Liga win of the new season.
