Real Madrid have reportedly put up for sale one of the members of their treble-winning squad, according to SPORT.
Fran Garcia joined Real Madrid’s academy at the age of 14 in 2013, progressing to their reserve team, Castilla, five years later. However, breaking into the first team proved challenging, leading to a loan move to Rayo Vallecano.
In 2021, Rayo opted to make Garcia’s transfer permanent, and he subsequently enjoyed two successful years at Vallecas, catching the eye of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Los Blancos exercised a buy-back clause worth €5 million, mirroring the Dani Carvajal scenario. He returned to the Bernabeu in August 2023 and made an iconic debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Athletic Club, with center-back Eder Militao sidelined due to injury.
However, opportunities quickly diminished for the 24-year-old as Ferland Mendy asserted himself. Competition for the left-back position is set to intensify further if Alphonso Davies joins Real Madrid’s talented squad in the coming weeks.
These developments have placed Garcia on the market, with Real Madrid reportedly willing to accept a fee of $12.8 million for him. Garcia made 31 appearances across all competitions in the recent season and was part of Real’s treble-winning squad.
