Andre Onana was left frustrated after being at fault as Manchester United conceded the first goal of the night against Sheffield United.
The Blades have struggled in front of goal during their first season back in the English top-flight and are set to be relegated back to the Championship, but were gifted an early chance at Old Trafford.
Onana has been one of United’s better players during a difficult spell and was the hero at Wembley as Erik ten Hag‘s side beat Coventry on penalties to make it to a second consecutive FA Cup final.
However, his confidence was given a reality check as United returned to Premier League action and made a huge mistake by passing incorrectly to Sheffield striker Jayden Bogle.
The Cameroonian – who only joined the club in the summer from Inter Milan – was trying to play the ball out from the back but panicked when attempting to play a pass out to Diogo Dalot.

Onana’s mistake gifted Sheffield United striker, Bogle, an easy chance from close-range
Bogle chipped his shot over an oncoming Onana to give Sheffield United the lead at Old Trafford
Onana failed to get another power on his pass and allowed Bogle to steal possession on the edge of the box and running clear through on goal before firing past the goalkeeper.
United defenders had their heads in their hands as Bogle fired the visitors into a surprise lead in the 35th-minute as Onana clambered back to his feet inside a stunned Old Trafford.

Fans expressed their agony at Onana’s mistake online with one supporter posting on X: ‘Onana what have you done?!’.
Another similarly annoyed critic added: ‘This summarises Onana’s season with Manchester United. Huge flop.’
One comment mockingly credited Onana for providing Bogle with a ‘brilliant assist’, while another opposed to view, adding: ‘On a serious note though, aside from poor finishing & an individual mistake from Onana, I can’t exactly fault the performance.’
Harry Maguire later spared his team-mates blushes after pulling United level with a goal on the stroke of half-time.
