The Brazilian defender then brutally shushed the goalie after scoring
Rasmus Hojlund gave them the lead before he hobbled off injured moments later.
Gabriel Jesus levelled for Arsenal before Gabriel Martinelli won it for them with ten minutes left.
United manager Erik ten Hag was happy with his side’s performance despite the setback.
And they did at least have the consolation of winning the end of game penalty shoot-out exhibition by 4-3.
During the penalties, Red Devils goalie Onana was spotted trying his best to put off Arsenal’s Fabio Vieira and several of his team-mates.
The Cameroon ace took a step to his right and then started pointing at the huge space to his left, almost daring the Portuguese ace to shoot there.
Onana, who was one of United’s best performers against Arsenal, continued to throw his arms in that direction as the ice cool Vieria strode forwards to take his kick.
However, the United stopper’s antics failed to have the desired effect as he dived the way he had been pointing while the midfielder slotted home in the opposition corner.
Footage of Onana was soon shared on social media, and it quickly got supporters talking.
One posted: “Onana is a likeable human being. I’m not even trolling.”
Another said: “The player too was good with mind reading. I love it.”
A third commented: “He will thrive in comedy.”
A fellow fan called him a “funny guy” as another declared that he was “too funny”.
A sixth said: “That’s a clown move.”
While a seventh added: “Onana played too much Fifa.”
But that was not the only attempt that Onana tried.
He had saved Kai Havertz’s kick to give United the advantage before Gabriel Magalhaes strode forward to take Arsenal’s final kick.
Onana tried to indicate to the defender where in the goal he should shoot again, but he was hilariously sent the wrong way as he moved in the direction his opponent had directed.
Gabriel then gathered up the ball and pressed his finger to his lips to silence his opponent.
Thankfully, Jadon Sancho stepped up to convert the final attempt, and United went on to win the shootout.
