Modric is on the verge of becoming the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history during the 2024/25 season.
Luka Modric could set an incredible record if Real Madrid win the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta next week.
Luka Modric could break Real Madrid’s record for most trophies next week if his team beats Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final. The two teams will face each other at 2:00 a.m. on August 15 (Vietnam time) at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.
Real Madrid went into the game as last season’s UEFA Champions League winners , winning 2-0 against Borussia Dortmund, giving Modric his 26th title at the club. His trophy cabinet so far includes 6 Champions Leagues, 4 La Liga, 5 Club World Cups, 4 UEFA Super Cups, 5 Supercopa de Espana and 2 Copa del Rey.
Nacho is on par with Modric in that regard, and both share the same honours. The Croatian superstar joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in the summer of 2012 while Nacho made his first-team debut for the club in April 2011.
However, Nacho no longer has the chance to extend his contract with the Santiago Bernabeu team. He left the club after 23 years this summer, joining Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiyah on a free transfer.
Modric, on the other hand, is still playing well and has a year left on his contract. He made 46 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing six assists.
Some people think that this season could be the last chance for the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner to surpass Nacho, thereby becoming the player with the most titles in Real Madrid’s history.
Modric may ʂtruggle to hold down a regular place in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, with Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Kroos’ supposed successor, Federico Valverde. With the signing of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham can now play in a deeper role than last season – which limits Modric’s chances of playing.
