And the Red Devils travelled north over the border to play Scottish giants Rangers at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

Kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes after fans struggled to get through the turnstiles.

But it was all worth it in the end for United fans as they saw their side secure victory.

A screamer from Amad Diallo and a Joe Hugill striker was enough to secure victory.

Additionally, players gained some much-needed minutes during the game.

In the capital of Scotland, Ten Hag went for a combination of youth and experience.

There were many well-known faces in the area, along with a few recent arrivals.

But who was United’s top dog as Ten Hag subbed off EVERY outfield player at half-time?

And did anyone have a game to forget?

Here, we delivers his Man Utd player rating:

ANDRE ONANA – 6

Did not face many Rangers chances and kept ice-cool when the Scots rarely got forward.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 6

Linked with a move to Galatasaray but appeared fully focused on the task at hand.

Stayed strong in one-on-ones and also demonstrated technical side with quick passes to Diallo.

LENY YORO – 7

Anh ấy đã có một pha vào bóng xuất sắc để ngăn chặn một cuộc tấn công của Rangers

A composed first appearance for United’s new boy, who only finalised a £60m transfer from Lille on Thursday.

Got a round of applause when his first tackle prevented a Gers goal and grew into the game as it went on.

JONNY EVANS – 6

Old head brought composure to the defence but was left relying on Yoro to provide the crucial bursts of speed.

Showed wily skills with some clever blocks to win free-kicks and alleviate pressure.

SAM MURRAY – 6

Had a quiet outing as he ceded control to his more experienced teammates.

Attempts to get forward were admirable but was not in right areas at the right times.

TOBY COLLYER – 7

Looked aggressive in the tackle and made sure to give Murray some extra support.

Was not afraid to shout at teammates as he displayed decent leadership for a youngster.

CASEMIRO – 7

Stepped up as the midfielder commander as he looks to rebuild his reputation after a dud season.

Tried making sharp forward passes and moved around with a lot more ease than previously.

AMAD DIALLO – 8

A little fast and loose at the start but managed to influence things through the middle after becoming more comfortable with his role.

Embraced creative role and was often closer to Wheatley in the box than anyone else.

ETHAN WHEATLEY – 6

Happy to lead United’s high press after making the step up from United’s youth side.

Showed off his link-up play with good movement and aerial power but wasted one clear effort in front of goal.

HALF-TIME SUBS

Habeeb Ogunneye – 6

Demonstrated speed nicely with some timely bursts up the flank.

Will Fish – 7

Didn’t really put a foot wrong as Rangers turned up the heat and put good block in early on.

Rhys Bennett – 6

Refused to back down from the task at hand in spite of the Gers’ recent surge in popularity.

Harry Amass – 6

Got caught several times by pacey Rangers attack but recovered well.

Jack Fletcher – 7

Son of United legend Darren Fletcher, now a first-team coach, did not disgrace his family name with a composed showing.

Maxi Oyedele – 6

Kept ball ticking over well and allowed team to build from deep.

Ethan Ennis – 6

Nice and tidy as he helped United keep control in the final third.

Hannibal Mejbri – 7

Back from his Sevilla loan and looked hungry to put things right with some good passes.

Sam Mather – 6

Took up wide role on left but made sure to drop deep to help build up attacks.

Joe Hugill – 8

Joe Hugill wrapped up the win with a brilliant goal

Tried to get in the right positions constantly and was eventually rewarded with a great strike in the 69th minute.
