In the wake of the Ballon d’Or snub, Vinicius aligns with his Real Madrid teammates
“Together”: Following his Ballon d’Or rejection, Vinicius splits from his Real Madrid teammates.
Over the past 24 hours, Vinicius Jr. has been the center of attention, mostly due to his defeat by Rodri in the Ballon d’Or competition.
The Real Madrid player was the clear favorite to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, but he unexpectedly lost to Rodri in the public vote, which sent the event into disarray.
Thanks to Carlo Ancelotti’s initiative, Real Madrid chose to abandon the match shortly after hearing of Vinicius’ loss.
Therefore, even though Ancelotti won Manager of the Year and Los Blancos won Club of the Year, the Real Madrid delegation did not attend the Ballon d’Or gala.
Vinicius Junior chose to remain mute during all of this, and since Real Madrid’s defeat against Barcelona, he has mainly stayed quiet.
Vinicius interrupts the quiet
Vinicius made his first public statement last night with a pretty cryptic remark, with everyone watching to see how the Brazilian will respond.
The forward recently posted something again, this time on Instagram. He posted a photo of the whole Real Madrid team along with the message, “Juntos,” which translates to “Together.”
Even if other members of his squad received recognition, Vinicius’ message shows that he is thrilled and touched by Real Madrid’s decision to support him and skip the event.
According to prior reports, Real Madrid’s decision to skip the Ballon d’Or ceremony was driven by both protest and support for the attacker, who was allegedly going through a difficult time.
Though it will be intriguing to see whether the athlete steps in front of the camera to discuss the Ballon d’Or rejection more candidly, it seems the Brazilian has finally given his consent.
