Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is unlikely to stay with Real Madrid long-term but displays a rare professional attitude.
Lunin voluntarily shortened his vacation by a week. The player returned to the Valdebebas training center on July 15. “Lunin’s professional attitude was surprising,” the newspaper wrote.
However, Lunin also brought two extremes when he returned to Real training after Euro 2024. Accordingly, the smile seemed to have disappeared. Lunin acted professionally, but appeared cold and wanted to escape the current deadlock.
The Ukrainian goalkeeper only has a contract with Real until June 2025, but the broken relationship between the “Los Blancos” leadership and agent Mendes made the deal difficult.
However, Chelsea could rescue Lunin. Spanish media confirmed that “The Blues” have been considering signing a contract with Lunine for many weeks. Real value Lunin at €30m, making a deal difficult to pull off.
However, Kepa could be the key to the deal. According to Marca, Real are considering signing Kepa as a backup to Thibaut Courtois, should Lunin leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.
Kepa himself also wants to stay with the reigning Champions League champions. The Athletic confirmed that the world’s most expensive goalkeeper has refused to negotiate with clubs in Saudi Arabia to wait for Real.
With Lunin younger and in better form than Kepa, Chelsea will have to pay more if they want to swap players with Real.
“Real are considering accepting the exchange. It is not yet clear how much Real want, but the two sides have started discussions,” AS confirmed.
