Former Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is set to hold talks about staying at the club regardless of who is manager, expressing his eagerness to remain at Old Trafford even if Erik ten Hag departs.
Harry Maguire will have talks with Manchester United bosses during the summer to extend his stay at the club, according to a new report.
The England defender has just one year left on his deal at Old Trafford, but he has made it clear that he wants to remain with the Red Devils, despite exit opportunities last summer.
And despite uncertainty around the club following the partial takeover by Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier in the year, it does not stop Maguire from wanting to be a part of their future.
The Sun report that Maguire, 31, is desperate to remain a Man United player for as long as possible, regardless of whether Erik ten Hag remains manager or not.
On the uncertainty around the future of some of the players, as well as the manager, Maguire said: ‘It is what happens when you play for this club. If you don’t get good results, players get scrutinised.

‘Players get sold, put on the transfer list and the manager will also come under pressure.’
The Red Devils have an option to extend Maguire’s contract until 2026, which may be implemented, but he was close to joining West Ham last year after he was stripped of the captaincy by ten Hag.
The Dutch manager opted to put his faith in Bruno Fernandes instead, but it left Maguire feeling like he was being ousted from Old Trafford, despite his ongoing commitment to remain a Man United player.
Maguire admitted this season was ‘a lot tougher’ than ten Hag’s first term in charge, as they finished the Premier League in eighth place, although their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City on Saturday would have eased some of that pain.
The defender missed the FA Cup final due to a muscular injury, but is hopeful that he can recover in time to be a part of England’s Euro 2024 bid this summer.
Following the FA Cup success on Saturday, he proceeded to troll Leeds United fans after they lost the play-off to Southampton, meaning that the Saints move into the Premier League at the expense of the Yorkshire club.
