David De Gea made TWO amazing penalty saves in the same game, which made Manchester United fans go crazy.
Ranting—that Erik ten Hag should be fired for having Andre Onana in goal instead of him—was not a good thing.
And going crazy over how good the Spanish player is still.
De Gea’s flying blocks before and after the break helped Fiorentina beat AC Milan 2-1.
The 33-year-old, who had no team to play for last season after being let go by United in 2023, blocked Theo Hernandez’s low shot to the right corner in extra time in the first half.
The 45-times-capped Spain star then stretched out fully the other way to stop an easy penalty kick from former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham soon after halftime.
Fiorentina was holding on to Yacine Adli’s first goal in the 35th minute.
It took two missed penalties for Milan to finally tie the game on the hour mark, thanks to a spectacular goal from Christian Pulisic, another former Blues forward.
A goal from Albert Gudmundsson in the 73rd minute, however, won it for Fiorentina.
Hernandez, the left back for Milan, got into more trouble when he was sent off after the game was over.
After De Gea saved Milan’s two penalties, United fans quickly focused on it, faster than the former Atletico Madrid custodian had done with Milan’s two.
Some fans even said that the keeper’s great play was another reason why Ten Hag should be fired.
One person yelled, “Dumping him for Onana was a sackable offence.” This was a reference to the Cameroonian, who will replace De Gea in July 2023.
DDG left United that same month, after 12 years during which he won the Premier League and the FA Cup once each.
He is still seventh on the list of United players who have played in the most games ever (545 in all categories).
