David Beckham stepped up efforts to recruit the Real Madrid star to Inter Miami amid tense negotiations.
David Beckham is reportedly pushing hard to sign a Real Madrid star for Inter Miami this summer.
The transfer window is finally upon us, with the Herons already linked with a number of top players in what could be a summer to remember for Inter Miami, with Sergio Ramos rumored with a move to Florida.
Neymar is another superstar name who has been linked with Inter Miami, yet with Tata Martino’s side already stretching their salary restrictions as far as they can go, some logistical challenges will need to be faced if a big signing is to be made.
Yet these issues haven’t stopped Beckham from using his influence to stop a superstar from Madrid.
Luka Modric again on Inter Miami’s radar despite Madrid contract blow
According to Sport, Beckham is working to bring Luka Modric to Inter Miami, though as per the report, this transfer could be hard to complete given that the veteran midfielder is closing in on signing a new contract with Los Blancos.
Modric has been linked with Inter Miami for quite some time, with the situation a few weeks ago giving off the feeling that the Croatian international was going to depart the Spanish capital after a new challenge.
However, Modric is now expected to stay with the reigning UEFA Champions League holders, even with Inter Miami making an admirable attempt to sign the 38-year-old midfield maestro.
Indeed, the Herons making a push to sign Modric now might have little say over the playmaker’s future, yet the intent from Inter Miami could hint that a superstar signing is on the cards this summer.

Herons missing out on Modric won’t be the end of the world
Inter Miami head into the summer with a big hole to fill in central defense, after the season-ending injury to Nicolas Freire, that has now left the Florida franchise with just two senior options for the position.
Whilst Modric would have been an incredible signing and another string to Inter Miami’s bow, the Croat wouldn’t have done much in actually solving the main issue the Herons currently have.
As a result, Inter Miami’s pursuit for Modric will not result in the end of the world if the deal does not happen, with the Florida franchise having bigger issues on their plate than needing a superstar midfielder.
