Lingard finally ended his goal drought during Seoul’s second K League 1 victory in four days.

The 31-year-old converted the spot-kick to give his side the lead in the 56th minute before team-mate Ryu Jae-moon secured the second.

This was the former Red Devils star’s 10th appearance for Seoul after he arrived at the club on a free transfer in February.

Despite the 67,000-capacity Seoul World Cup Stadium barely being half-full the crowds cheering certainly headed after Lingard’s ball hit the back of the net.

Fireworks also went off behind the goal as Lingard celebrated with his team-mates.

Prior to Wednesday’s triumph, Lingard had not bagged a competitive league goal since September 2021 when scored the late winner for United away at West Ham.

The former England man had a stellar loan spell at the Hammers smashing nine goals in 16 Premier League games.

He then went on to spend the 2022-23 season at Nottingham Forest.

Lingard netted two goals for Forest in the EFL Cup, one each against Tottenham and Blackburn.

Furthermore, he scored his first goal for Seoul almost six years after leading England to a 6-1 victory against Panama in the 2016 FIFA World Cup.

Between 2016 and 21, Lingard earned 32 caps for the Three Lions, scoring six goals.
