Manchester United have officially completed the signing of young centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille, marking their second signing of the summer transfer window.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have reached an agreement with Lille for a transfer fee of €50 million plus €12 million in add-ons. Yoro has completed the first part of the medical and will sign a contract until June 2029, with an option to extend for a further year.

Fabrizio Romano has officially said “Here we go” with the Yoro deal to Man United.

The move marks a significant victory for Manchester United in the transfer market, as they have beaten Real Madrid in the race to sign the young French talent. Yoro – despite being only 18 years old – has shown impressive form for Lille and is considered one of the most promising young defenders in Europe today.

The signing of Yoro shows Manchester United’s clear strategy of investing in the future. The youngster will join a defence that already includes the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire. This competition promises to help Yoro develop quickly and contribute to the team’s success in the coming seasons.

Yoro is the second deal in the 2024 summer transfer window of the Red Devils

The deal also shows Manchester United’s determination to improve their squad after a disappointing season. They have previously signed striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36 million. However, the Red Devils’ ambitions do not seem to stop there.

Manchester United are reportedly still eyeing a move for another centre-back if they can raise the funds through player sales. Everton’s Jarrod Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt are the two names being linked, but both could be hampered by the high transfer fees demanded by their respective clubs.

However, the spending spree also poses financial challenges for the club. Manchester United will need to carefully manage their budget and may have to sell some players to ensure they comply with Premier League financial regulations.

With the completion of the Leny Yoro deal, Manchester United fans can look forward to a promising 2024/2025 season. The combination of experience and youth in the squad will likely help the Red Devils compete strongly in both the Premier League and European competitions next season.
