Real Madrid keep the good times rolling with dominant win over Granada
Real Madrid continued their fine form with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Granada at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
Los Blancos were in control from the start and took the lead in the 12th minute when Karim Benzema headed home a cross from Vinicius Junior. Marco Asensio doubled the lead just before the half-hour mark with a curling effort from the edge of the box.
Granada offered little in the way of a response in the second half and Benzema wrapped up the win in the 74th minute with his second goal of the game.
The win sees Real Madrid extend their lead at the top of La Liga to 10 points with just five games remaining. They are now in a very strong position to retain their title.
Carlo Ancelotti was pleased with his team’s performance and believes that they are playing at a very high level.
“I am very happy with the performance of my players,” he said. “We were in control from the start and we created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I am happy with the three points.”
Man of the match: Karim Benzema
The French striker was once again the star of the show for Real Madrid. He took his two goals brilliantly and was a constant threat to the Granada defense.
What’s next for Real Madrid?
Real Madrid travel to Valencia next weekend before hosting Villarreal in their final home game of the season. They then finish the campaign with away trips to Atlético Madrid and Cádiz.
Granada will be looking to bounce back from this defeat when they host Sevilla next weekend.
