There is no doubt about Zendaya and her parents’ good relationship. Despite owning multiple residences, the well-known actress (“Euphoria,” “Dune,” the “Spider-Man” franchise) was still living with either her mother Claire Stoermer or her separated father Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, an Oakland native; the two are still close “homies,” in Zendaya’s words.
The 26-year-old, who has followed A-list stars The Rock, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Beyoncé in buying homes for their parents, reportedly spent $1.9 million on a home that will be occupied by her father. The opulent home is tucked away in the remote suburbs of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley’s West Hills neighborhood, adjacent to Woodland Hills and Calabasas.
The 1990s-era two-story house last changed owners for $1.1 million in 2008, following which modifications were carried out. New hardwood flooring and a double-height lobby with light periwinkle-colored walls can be found on the main level of the home.
French doors in the formal dining room lead directly to the pool area, and the living and family rooms each have a fireplace. White quartz counters and dark brown cabinets set off the completely renovated kitchen’s eat-in bar seating and family room connection.
There are five bedrooms spread out over the about 3,400 square foot building, with two on the first floor and three upstairs. The lavishly renovated bathroom, dedicated sitting area, and private terrace with views of the city lights are all included in the upstairs master hideaway. The downstairs room has been converted into an office.
Other exterior features include grassy front and backyards, a raised spa next to the home’s pool, and a built-in barbecue center with a bar seating area. There is a circular fire pit that is ideal for roasting marshmallows on mild nights, as well as a covered loggia that provides some outdoor escape from the oppressive San Fernando Valley heat. The property is tucked away within an exclusive housing development, whose monthly HOA dues of $205 go toward maintaining common spaces that resemble parks and supporting a neighborhood security guard.
In addition to her dad’s luxurious new residence, Zendaya also maintains a number of houses, including an apartment in New York City and the first house she ever bought, a Mediterranean-style residence in the Northridge region of Los Angeles. However, her most expensive possession is still the $4 million hilltop mansion in Encino.
