Paula Godwin posted her story on Facebook, along with Todd’s face still swollen after being bitten by a snake.
When faced with a snake on a walking path in Arizona, Paula called Todd to save her, and Todd immediately rushed towards the snake.
“Todd howled, I hugged him and ran down the hill with my other dog named Copper. I took Todd to the hospital within 10 minutes of him being bitten by the snake,” Paula wrote.
“Todd was immediately given a dose of anti-venom and continued to be cared for in the hospital for about 12 hours.”
“Obviously he saved me from being bitten by a snake, he is my ‘hero’,” Paula confirmed.
Paula explained that she knows that in the area where she lives, she can encounter dangerous rattlesnakes, but this special reptile is almost difficult to detect.
“I’m a native of Arizona, I know this danger and I’m very cautious when walking outside,” Paula said. “Rattlesnakes often show no signs in the places they appear, usually when they hear the sound of their tails. When the snake makes a sound, I pay attention and avoid taking another route.”
“I was very alert, but I didn’t see the snake because its skin was white with gray stripes like the color of the road.
Todd’s photos were widely shared online, with a popular Twitter account called WeRateDogs even calling the dog a “true hero.”
Paula says news about Todd is all over the internet, but “Todd deserves it.”
