Grigor Dimitrov shares a special bond with Serena Williams and their friendship was there for all to see when the ‘Queen’ was seen cheering for her BFF loudly during the Miami Open 2024 semifinal clash between Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev.

Williams and Dimitrov have been friends for a long time, infact, such was their closeness that many even believed that the pair were dating each other. Being such close friends for a long time, Williams decided to turn up at the Hard Rock stadium as she was seen cheering for her BFF Grigor as he squared off against Zverev.

 

Even though the pair have a ten-year age gap, it didn’t come between their friendship as the Bulgarian opened up on his friendship with the 23-time Grand Slam winner. Grigor sat down for a post match chat with Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj, talking about the tips that Serena shared with her friend.

“Yeah, she was very, she came to me and said I don’t wanna distract you but I gotta tell you something. Which is like this one sentence you know, she always knows what to tell me in any given moment and you know and my friendship with her means so much to me,” Dimitrov revealed.

“And I think being able to keep it that way through the years and ofcourse having her coming and watching ‘I don’t wanna distract you’ and I was like ‘actually you helped me’ so you know I get it it is very humble,” he added.

With Williams in her corner, the 32-year-old fended off the challenge from Zverev, prevailing 6-4, 7-6, 6-4. Following the victory, Dimitrov earned himself a place in the top 10 of ATP world rankings. He will lock horns with world number 3 Jannik Sinner in the summit clash on Sunday.

The Bulgarian moved up to ninth place in the ATP rankings and he will look to upset Sinner in the final after ousting Carlos Alcaraz earlier in the tournament.
