Mike Tyson’s Ferrari F50 supercar has set a new auction record, fetching an astounding $4.2 million at Gooding and Company’s auction. This particular F50 is a rare find, as it is one of only 55 remaining in the US and was the 73rd unit of the limited production run of 349.
The supercar boasts a powerful 4.7-liter engine that churns out 513 horsepower at 8,500 rpm, propelling it to a top speed of 202 mph and achieving a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in just 3.6 seconds. When Tyson acquired the F50, it was originally valued at $650,000, and he also added a Ferrari 456 GT Spyder to his collection at the same time.
In 1996, Tyson purchased the F50 from broker Nadir Amirvand, and it has since changed hands through seven more owners. The odometer currently displays 6,200 kilometers, and the car recently underwent $70,000 worth of repairs at a Ferrari dealership in Florida.
The latest owner now becomes the eighth person to enjoy the exhilarating ride of this unique vehicle. Prior to selling the F50 to Evander Holyfield, Tyson defended his heavyweight title by knocking out Frank Bruno and Bruce Seldon.
Beyond his fɑmе as a legendary boxer, Tyson was also renowned for his passion for cars, boasting a collection that included multiple Lamborghinis, Bentleys, and Ferraris. He once amusingly recounted his “favorite arrest,” which involved crashing one of his Ferraris through a convenience store window due to its sheer speed.
Tyson’s boxing career was unparalleled, holding the record as the youngest-ever undisputed heavyweight champion.
