Many southern states are overrun with dogs as a result of a lack of spaying and neutering. Yet, many shelters euthanize dogs because they believe it is the only option. But it is not the dogs’ fault that people are not responsible. Therefore, they do not deserve to die in this terrible way.
Robin, a dog, was nearly put down until he was rescued. He had the sweetest reaction when he learned he was safe! During his checkup, he expressed his gratitude to the vet for giving him a second chance at life.
Robin was found as a stray and was immediately adopted by a kill shelter. Since he had an injury on his paw, he was not even given a fighting chance. Almost before long, the pup was designated to be put down. In fact, he was just minutes away from being put down when several wonderful souls stepped in to rescue him.
Robin’s rescuers transported him to Vet Ranch, where his wounds were examined. The doctors drugged him so they could take full x-rays and examine some of his lumps more closely. According to the vets, his paw looked fine on the x-ray. It was just bruised and not broken! While Robin was under anesthesia, the vets neutered him.
The best thing about Robin’s visit to the vet, though, was his reaction to everything. He softened a bit instead of looking timid and terrified. He knew he was in good hands.
During the exam, Robin thanked the vet in the best way he knew how. As she detailed her surgeries on video, the dog leaned over and gave her the warmest hugs. It seemed as if he knew she was helping him avoid euthanasia. And he felt better than ever after seeing the vet!
“He hasn’t shown any symptoms of limping since we got him from the shelter,” one of the vets stated. “We’re happy to report that he’s now healthy and ready to be adopted.”
Robin had a rough start in life, but he is no longer on the brink of death. Vets believe he is young, so he will have a long and happy life with a forever family. It is a blessing to know that there are so many people willing to fight for dogs like him.
