Fans expressed sympathy for Marcus Rashford as the Man Utd winger was booed despite creating the two best goal-scoring chances in the match against Liverpool.
The Old Trafford faithful is understandably frustrated at the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in just the third Premier League game of the season.
Manchester United put up a dismal performance as Liverpool played to their strengths and got three goals.
The Red Devils were poor in the first half but Marcus Rashford arguably created two of the best goalscoring chances of the game after the break.
Both times, the ball fell to Joshua Zirkzee whose shots went wide past the goal.
Despite that, fans heard loud boos directed at Rashford staying on whereas Alejandro Garnacho was subbed off.
Manveer: “Rashford the only one who’s created anything this game, robbed of 2 assists. But the “fans” are booing him. Unreal. Not even to mention what he’s done for us and being an academy player.”
UnitedMuppetiers: “2 great chances created by Rashford after fans booing him for not taking a man on. Should have 2 assists.”
AdamJoseph: “Let’s attack Marcus Rashford though. Should have at least one assist after the previous two chances created. Players will always struggle to thrive in a system that is not designed to maximise their strengths.”
Rashford, 27, experienced a hard season for the Red Devils previous term having scored just eight goals in all competitions. His final league goal occurred in a 2-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford back in March.
While Rashford experienced a hard afternoon, the same could undoubtedly be said of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who was at fault for each of Liverpool’s opening two goals. However, captain Bruno Fernandes asserted that everyone shared responsibility for the loss.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “We started the game really well and got more chances. We have to be more clinical, this happened against Fulham too. They were clinical.
