The story of Mr. Be – a man who changed his life after taking care of a dog with only two legs, surprised the surrounding neighbors. At the beginning of the story, a man in his 50s thoughtfully said that 4 years ago while driving a motorbike taxi, he discovered on the edge of the road near the temple that an abandoned dog had just been born.
“It’s as small as a wrist. People left it lying around outside. It was raining heavily and its body was covered in mud. Many people passed by to look but did not pick up. I felt so sorry for him, I brought him home and fed him milk for a month before he woke up. It had both front legs amputated, probably born in the womb,” Mr. Be said.
Mr. Be and his puppy Lucky
He named the special little guy Lucky, meaning luck. Lucky has white fur and eyes that shine with intelligence and agility. The dog can only jump with its remaining two hind legs, Be said, from a distance it looks like a Kangaroo. Mr. Be and his wife love the abandoned little dog like a family member, attentively caring for and feeding Lucky every day.
Mr. Be’s wife said: “He is so cute, when he comes home he keeps jumping up and down like this. That day I came home from work and saw that there was no dog. He told people to leave me and pick it up. If a dog has a disability, people are probably afraid of bad luck so they give it up. But I wasn’t scared, I felt so sorry for him, my husband and I told each other to go buy milk for him to drink.”
The little dog only has 2 legs
Lucky is also very obedient and affectionate with his owner. The disabled dog often shows affection by pressing its head against Mr. Be’s body.
“It’s very smart, gentle. Every night I hug him to work and he’s brave enough. When I come home from work, he rushes out to greet me, holding his legs out in front, looking cute,” Mr. Be said.
Lucky is obedient and attentive to his owner
Mr. Be works as a motorbike taxi driver and his wife works as a hired laborer to cook coconut jelly. Mr. Be and his wife’s two eldest daughters have gotten married. A few years ago, Be suddenly had a stroke. His health declined, so he had to retire and stay home to recuperate. Even though it was difficult, every time Lucky the dog got sick, he used money to go to the vet and buy medicine, costing several hundred thousand to even millions.
“I believe in cause and effect. In the past, I also raised a puppy named Bong. He was very smart. He went out on the highway and at night people stole and beat him. But it could escape. I took him to the hospital but couldn’t save him in time, his head was hit too hard.
As for Lucky, he got sick three times. I thought he was dead, so I was worried and took him to the hospital to see what happened. Having to transport it to the pet hospital in the city, each treatment costs more than 1 million VND,” Mr. Be confided.
Be’s house is filled with joy and laughter
For Mr. Be, Lucky not only did not bring bad luck but also brought a “life change” that he could not even dream of.
“It’s an animal, just like me. If you save it, people will save you. Two years after bringing it home, a benefactor gave me the house,” Mr. Be said.
Indeed, at the most difficult time of his illness, Be and his wife unexpectedly received help from a sponsor on Youtube. They saw that he and his wife were poor so they invited them to film YouTube together. The audience on the channel felt sorry for them so they donated money to help Mr. Be build a spacious house.
Lucky’s appearance helps Be and his wife’s life have more joy and laughter. The day Lucky became pregnant, the little dog walked heavily. Because he only had 2 legs and had to jump constantly, Lucky had difficulty giving birth, giving birth to 8 litters but only keeping 3.
“When it was born, I kept a close watch every night because it only had two legs and was afraid I couldn’t take care of it. That night at 10 o’clock I heard a puppy crying, I ran out and saw that I had given birth to 2 puppies. After the third child, the children were overwhelmed because there were too many of them. He took care of the baby very lovingly, breastfeeding him lying on his back, with his hind legs nudging the baby,” Mr. Be’s wife said.
Lucky brought unexpected luck to Mr. Be and his wife
Dogs are the best and most loyal friends of humans. The story of Mr. Be and his wife and their puppy Lucky has become a shining example for many people about the virtue of “saving and loving” pets.
