Lawyer and political commentator George Conway responded with glee after being denounced by conservative firebrand Bill O’Reilly over attack ads targeting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
O’Reilly called Conway “despicable” while condemning ads from the longtime Trump foe’s political action committee, the Anti-Psychopath PAC.
“I’m not the bragging type, but I must admit I consider this a tremendous honor,” Conway, who is the ex-husband of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, wrote Friday on X.
He thanked O’Reilly, adding, “I hope to live up to it by producing more such ads in the very near future.”
O’Reilly made the comments on his show, “No Spin News.” The ex-Fox News host said that while he was watching the vice presidential debate, he saw an anti-Trump ad made by Conway’s PAC. He called the spot “disgusting” and “revolting,” then got personal.
“In my opinion, he is a despicable human being, this guy,” he said of Conway.
O’Reilly did not give details about the specific ad he saw. However, Conway inferred he was talking about one of the PAC’s two new ads that feature women who have accused the Republican presidential nominee of sexual assault.
Conway concluded his response with a question: “I’m struggling to remember, so maybe all of you could remind me—how and why did O’Reilly lose his gig at @FoxNews?”
O’Reilly was ousted from the network in 2017 amid allegations of sexual harassment. The former “O’Reilly Factor” host later paid a $32 million settlement.
