Roger Federer and Serena Williams Reunite in New York to Promote Their Upcoming Documentaries: “Federer: Twelve Final Days” and “In the Arena: Serena Williams” – Giang

Roger Federer and Serena Williams know how to excite crowds in New York City in the late spring, yet this week, the two resigned greats exchanged racquets for honorary pathway as they hit NYC to advance their particular impending narratives, “Federer: Twelve Last Days” and “In the Field: Serena Williams,” with screenings at the notable Tribeca Film Celebration.

Federer’s flick, which reports his last profession competition at the 2022 Laver Cup, screened Monday at the SVA Theater in Chelsea, and it will debut one week from now on Amazon Prime, while Williams’ Thursday screening came almost a month prior to the primary episode of her eight-section miniseries drops on ESPN+.

Clad in a smooth naval force suit, dark dress shoes, and shades, 20-time significant winner Federer told correspondents on honorary pathway that he “just cried multiple times” when he saw the finished narrative, which inititally started as a home film. Notwithstanding open substance with Federer and his significant other, Mirka Federer, the documenatry includes new meetings with Federer’s greatest adversaries, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal.

“An athlete’s journey is emotional, as we know, but I think also seeing the beautiful friendships we create, the bonds, and then through the rivalry, it’s unbreakable … I think that’s the beauty of this film as well,” he said.

“Federer: Twelve Final Days” and “In the Arena: Serena Williams” will start streaming on June 20 and July 10, respectively.

Three days later, Williams arrived for her own red carpet moment at the OKX Theater at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in Lower Manhattan wearing a blush-pink ensemble that was custom made for her by Dolce & Gabbana: a silk duchess corset layered over a blush chiffon halter neck dress.

She accessorized with matching satin sandals and the brand’s Marlene clutch, as well as a rose-gold colored watch from Audemars Piguet.

The eight-episode series, which has been promised to be “the most complete, intimate and compelling” account of her career, will start airing on ESPN+ next month. Williams says the show is the antithesis of much of what she presented publicly in her career, as she was “guarded” by necessity with the media after her professional debut at age 14.

“In my position and growing up as a teenager and 14, I kind of had to be guarded to just kind of stay sane, and just being in so much press, do everything I was doing … it was a grind,” she told the Associated Press from the red carpet.

“It’s really cool to see a … true side of what happens behind the scenes.”

While Williams graced the Big Apple, Federer’s press tour continued across the pond in London for the European premiere at the Odeon Luxe West End. Looking dapper in a different suit, Federer accessorized with a Rolex RLX Titanium Yacht-Master, which debuted for the line last year.

Federer’s London screening was attended by notables including Mike and Zara Tindall, Grammy nominee Anoushka Shankar, retired Wimbledon presenter Sue Barker, and influencer Max Selwood.

“I look forward to sharing this emotional film with the world,” Federer wrote on Instagram. “Thank you [Amazon Prime] for brining this to life.”
