‘GARNAGOAL’: Man United star Garnacho scored a magical goal that was considered ‘better than Rooney’s goal’ – with the winger himself comparing it to a strike from Cristiano Ronaldo
WESTERN TRUCKS Alejandro Garnacho scored a great overhead goal that was praised by his Manchester United teammates as “better than Rooney’s.” The player himself said it was similar to a Cristiano Ronaldo goal.
Garnacho shared a picture of his spinning opener in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Everton along with a famous Ronaldo goal from 2018 that looked a lot like his own.
Gary Neville, a former player for Manchester United, said right away that the Argentinian’s overhead kick was the best one he had ever seen, even better than Wayne Rooney’s winner for United against Manchester City in 2011.
That’s when Garnacho, 19, did a Ronaldo-style Siu goal salute and said, “To be honest, I couldn’t believe I scored it.”
“I didn’t understand how I scored; I just stood there and yelled, ‘Oh my God!’” “This is one of the best goals I’ve ever scored. I’m thrilled.”
After the goal, he posted a picture of it on X with the word “Boom.” On Instagram, he posted a picture of both his goal and Ronaldo’s goal, who used to play for Manchester United.
Ron’s goal helped Real Madrid beat Juventus in the quarterfinals and win the Champions League five years ago.
And in response to Garnacho’s story, United manager Erik ten Hag said, “It was probably the goal of the season—a magnificent moment.”
The teen was even asked by right-back Diogo Dalot if he could go to the World Goal of the Year awards with him.
Dalot wrote: “Take me with you to that Puskas Gala please… unbelievable Hermano!”
And while Red Devils central defender Lisandro Martinez watches him heal from an injury, he wrote, “Well done Hermano, proud of you.”
Neville, a commentator for Sky Sports, said, “I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium where I saw an overhead kick that good.”
“And I was there for Rooney’s against Man City.”
Garnacho’s goal was called “the coldest moment of the season” by Facebook fans.
“Magical finish,” “sensational,” and “absolutely incredible” were some of the other comments.
Some fans also think that Garnacho’s great season shows how much he has learned from Ronaldo, who used to play as a forward for Real Madrid.
“That’s Ron’s influence,” said one, and “Following in the footsteps of his idol,” said another.
“Like Ronaldo’s goals, this will last a long time in the hearts of men,” said a third.
So funny that even Roy Keane couldn’t hold back.
“It’s hard for me to talk about it because I’ve never done it myself!”
“I usually don’t like goalkeepers, but I’ll give him a pass on this one. Great goal and United got off to a great start.” A great goal.”
Manchester United won thanks to a great finish. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial also scored.
But Ten Hag said that Garnacho shouldn’t be judged too quickly by Ronaldo’s standards.
He told them, “Don’t compare.” Garnacho needs to put in a lot of work to go that way.
“You have to do it every time, and he hasn’t done it yet.” You need to score 20 to 25 goals every season to be like Ronaldo or Rooney.
