Introducing Carbon! This brave little soul had a challenging start in life, abandoned at just one month old. Carbon wandered the small village, often being chased away, until he found an unexpected refuge as the “heater” at the sugar mill. It seemed like a safe spot where he wouldn’t be bothered, as no one paid much attention to the poor baby.
To survive, Carbon had to rely on a diet of coal and molasses, which took a toll on his small feet and left him covered in sticky molasses. When we first laid eyes on him, he resembled a piece of coal himself, with his entire body looking grimy and forlorn. Carbon was not only extremely weak and malnourished but also anemic.
After a much-needed shower, it became apparent that most of his body hair had been singed. Despite his physical hardships, Carbon displayed an indomitable spirit.
Our team immediately provided Carbon with the medical care he urgently needed to recover. To have any chance at a future, this resilient little one had to fight hard. Carbon was given nourishing milk and essential vitamins to aid in his transformation.
And what fantastic news – Carbon has found his forever home! He’s been adopted and now enjoys the companionship of a dear friend named Pepina, a plump pig. Every day, they play together and show nothing but kindness to each other.
Carbon is a wonderful little fellow who has become the heart of his new home. With the support of his loving adoptive family, Carbon has embarked on a new and brighter chapter in his life.
