Demi, the rescuer, embarked on her usual morning routine, never expecting that her day would take an extraordinary turn. As she made her way to work, she passed by a notorious dog dump site, a place that had witnessed the abandonment and suffering of countless dogs. Demi herself had rescued two puppies, Milli and Mia, from this very site just a week earlier, a testament to her unwavering commitment to these innocent souls.

Demi’s daily ritual included providing food for the packs of dogs struggling to survive in this unforgiving environment. On this particular day, she set out to find two brothers and a familiar woman who frequented the area. However, what she encountered was a scene of despair and desperation.

As Demi approached a spot where the dogs often gathered, her heart sank. Instead of the dogs she was searching for, she found two emaciated souls, their fragile bodies mere shadows of what they should be. Yet, amidst this bleakness, Demi noticed something remarkable – one of the dogs, despite her own dire situation, had brought food to her weaker companion. It was an act of loyalty and love that defied the harshness of their reality.

Now under the care of Rescue Paws Curaçao, Milli and Mia are receiving the attention and love they so desperately needed. They weigh a mere nine pounds, a fraction of what healthy dogs their age should weigh, but their spirit remains unbroken. Despite the odds stacked against them, they are fighting to survive.
