As an example of this boundless compassion and empathy, Sammie, a four-month-old boxer mix, was admitted to an animal shelter. Sammie was in poor health and terrified of his new surroundings until Simon came into his room to calm him down.
“Sammie was terrified and perplexed when he first arrived at the shelter. Who could fault him? He’d been spray-painted, shot in the head, and dragged behind their car. I’m sick to my stomach reading these stories.”
However, not long after he arrived, another abused dog named Simon seemed to recognize his need for a companion. Unprompted, Simon entered Sammie’s room and lightly rested his paw against Sammie’s. If this image doesn’t make you cry, I’m not sure what will.
Sammie is no longer abandoned by Simon. They’ve become friends and appear to have a special connection.
Despite the fact that they were rescued weeks apart, the two dogs appear to be aware that they came from similar circumstances.
This little guy is in desperate need of love and care. How could you do such a heinous thing to this sweet little face?
According to Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, while Simon will be available for adoption soon, Sammie’s recovery will take some time. “Animal compassion and understanding are beyond me,” she told her friends. That is something I completely agree with.
We’ll never know how Simon knew Sammie needed a friend at that point in time. Fortunately, he was aware and could assist Sammie in ways that no human could. This little guy requires all the assistance he can get, so please assist in any way you can.
