In the early morning of April 9, Al Nassr lost 1-2 to Al Hilal in the semi-finals of the National Super Cup.
Ronaldo threatened to punch the referee.
In the 86th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ali Al Bulayhi collided near the touchline. In the moment of losing his temper, CR7 elbowed the Al Hilal midfielder in the chest. Al Bulayhi immediately fell to the field in pain.
Referee Al Hoaish ran over and gave Ronaldo a direct red card. The Portuguese superstar complained but failed. He raised his fist towards Mr. Al Hoaish then turned and left in helplessness.
On the way off the field, Ronaldo sarcastically mocked the referee team controlling the match, even patting the line referee on the shoulder.
Previously, Ronaldo was upset because of his decision to refuse to recognize Al Nassr’s goal in the first half. From the cross on the right wing, CR7 leaned forward but could not touch the ball. Otavio ran up and kicked the ball into Al Hilal’s net. However, Al Nassr’s goal was stripped because the referee determined that Ronaldo participated in the attack while offside.
Al Nassr played hard but could not create a surprise against Al Hilal. Coach Jorge Jesus’s team is completely superior to the level of their opponents in Saudi Arabia.
Al Hilal once again made Al Nassr hateful with a 2-1 victory. The players who scored for the blue shirt team were Al Dawsari and Malcom. In the first goal, it was Ronaldo who lost the ball, creating conditions for the opponent to counterattack. By the second goal, Al Nassr’s defense played poorly and allowed Malcom to comfortably head the ball, defeating the goalkeeper.
When Ronaldo left the field, Al Nassr again shortened the score to 1-2 thanks to Sadio Mane in the 90+9 minute. However, that was not enough to help coach Luis Castro’s team turn the game around.
Failure at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium leaves Al Nassr with only one chance to win the title this season, which is the King’s Cup. Ronaldo and his teammates will face Al Khaleej in the semi-finals on May 2. In the other branch, Al Hilal will face Al Ittihad. Al Hilal faces the opportunity to leave its city rivals empty-handed on all fronts.
