Raul Asencio contributed in Real Madrid’s 4-0 win over Osasuna in round 13 of La Liga today, September 11.
Amid the confusion of David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni remaining silent due to injury, coach Ancelotti decided to call up Asencio from the youth team to try to eat in the room in the match against Osasuna. This 21-year-old player was put on the field to replace the injured Eder Militao in the 30th minute. In about 1 hour of play, Asencio played with ease and had an assist for Jude Bellingham to score.
Last season, Asencio played a key role in the defense of the Real Youth Team. He began his football career at hometown team Las Palmas before joining Real Madrid’s La Fabrica academy at the age of 14. At Valdebebas, Asencio is considered one of the academy’s most promising development centers with good defensive skills and impressive ball control.
Last summer, Asencio was recruited to Girona. However, the 21-year-old player refused and chose to stay on the edge of the competition at the Bernabeu.
AS determined that Asencio just had an impressive debut in La Liga. Possessing a height of 1.84 m, the 21-year-old midfielder has great potential to become a pillar of the club in the future.
However, AS also revealed that Asencio is being nursed with a group of young players at the academy club. This group was selected to perform “thirsty video broadcasting” in September 2023. Even though sources confirm Asencio was not in the video, this would still be reasonable to defend.
Currently, Real only has Antonio Rudiger, Jesus Vallejo and Asencio as the number 1 choices for the two central defender positions. Vallejo is on the first team list, but coach Ancelotti has no intention of using this player. “Los Blancos” is attracting Sergio Ramos and Aymeric Laporte in the winter transfer window to strengthen the defense.
