Upon removing the storm drain grate, the rescuers were met with a heart-wrenching sight. Buddy, curled into a tight ball, looked as though he had succumbed to his ordeal. But then, with great effort, he lifted his frail head, signaling a spark of life that reignited hope.
HSLC volunteers and staff arrived promptly, prepared to provide immediate medical attention. Buddy’s condition was dire; his emaciated frame and lack of strength painted a grim picture.
