Harold was born in a space pet breeder, a place where mother dogs are confined in small cages and many puppies are bred for profit.

Animals from breeders are at higher risk of developing health problems such as heart disease, kidney disease, blood disease, deafness, and permanent paralysis due to overbreeding.

Harold was sold to an unsuspecting buyer for $7,000 after taking only a few breaths as a baby. His new owner took him home and cared for him as he battled a respiratory infection.

Without warning, however, Harold lost the ability to use his hind legs due to a curvature of the spine induced by overbreeding at the breeder; the disease is similar to scoliosis and removes all feeling in his hindquarters.

Harold’s new owner handed him over to Dallas DoggRRR, who immediately took him to the emergency animal hospital.

Harold was in the hospital for two days and struggled to eat without vomiting.

Doctors will discover ulcerations and a stricture in his intestines, stomach adhesions, enlarged lymph nodes, elevated levels of liver and gastric fluid throughout his abdomen and esophagus during an emergency exploratory surgery.

This little guy has been a resident of Dallas DoggRRR for several years and acts as our rescue mascot and social media ambassador.
