Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour cut the wrong songs from the concert’s set list, and there were others in the film that should’ve been left out instead.
Summary
- Taylor Swift had to cut some songs from her three-and-a-half-hour concert for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, and unfortunately, some of the best and most anticipated songs were left out.
- Fans were disappointed that songs like “Long Live,” “Cardigan,” and “The Archer” were cut from the movie, as they held emotional significance and popularity.
- There were other songs that could have been cut instead, such as “Tolerate It” and “I Knew You Were Trouble,” to make the movie even better and include more fan-favorite tracks.
Taylor Swift couldn’t fit her entire three-and-a-half-hour concert into Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, so she had to sacrifice a few songs, and unfortunately, they were the wrong choices to leave out of the movie. After releasing four new albums since her last tour in 2018 and embarking on her rerecording journey, Swift had to do something big for her next tour. Instead of promoting her newest album Midnights, she created the Eras Tour, a celebration of her life’s work.
The Eras Tour Movie Cut The Wrong Taylor Swift Songs
Taylor Swift filmed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour at her final U.S. shows in Los Angeles, California. At this point, the setlist was a little different from what it was a few months earlier, as she’d added “Long Live” after releasing Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and invited her L.A. opening act Haim on stage to perform their collab “No Body, No Crime.” Unfortunately, Swift cut both these performances from the movie Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Along with these songs, Swift also cut out “The Archer,” “Tis The Damn Season,” “Cardigan,” “Wildest Dreams,” and “Seven (Interlude).”
A few of these did make sense. For example, “Seven (Interlude)” would have taken up unnecessary time as Swift doesn’t actually perform the full song. However, “Long Live” is a song she released in 2010 about her relationship with her fans and the journey they’ve all been on together since 2006. Fans were devastated when it wasn’t on the original Speak Now set list, which initially only included “Enchanted.” Cutting it from the Eras Tour concert film was heartbreaking for those who didn’t get to witness it in person.
“Cardigan” was also a strange choice as it was the lead single off of the album Folklore and became very popular on TikTok because of the love triangle storyline Swift created using “Cardigan,” “Betty,” and “August.” “The Archer” and “Tis The Damn Season” were certainly less heartbreaking cuts from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, though it’s still hard to see them go, especially because of the vulnerable and relatable message in the former.

Which Songs Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Should’ve Cut Instead
If Taylor Swift had to cut songs from the movie, there were other options she could have gone with to make Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour even better. “Tolerate It” is an emotional ballad, but it’s not one of her most popular songs, and it would have been a better song to cut than the fan-favorite “Long Live.” Swift also could have cut “I Knew You Were Trouble” from the Red setlist as it’s a song fans have heard many times on her tours.
