Duncan, the small dog, was born in Colorado, USA. From birth, Duncan had a congenital deformity where his hind legs twisted together, causing his spine to become curved. Duncan underwent surgery performed by Dr. Brandon to amputate these legs.
Despite all the difficulties, little dog Duncan always remains optimistic and joyful.
No one could have imagined that the frail little dog, after such a major surgery, could recover so quickly. Just one hour later, Duncan bravely struggled to get up and started practicing standing and walking, much to the astonishment of the caretakers.
With extraordinary determination, Duncan didn’t even need any assistive devices to move around. The caretakers had designed three sets of wheels to replace Duncan’s hind legs, but on all three occasions, the small dog refused them.
Despite having only two front legs, Duncan continues to train to run, jump, and walk just like any other normal dog.
Due to the physical disability, Duncan regularly faces health issues such as tendonitis, metabolic disorders, and heart and lung conditions. There have been two instances where his condition worsened and he stopped breathing, but after receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the brave dog triumphed over death and returned from the brink. It is known that only 3% of dogs who receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation survive.
Despite having a disabled body and poor health, Duncan is a vivid testament to the fact that joy and happiness are not determined by circumstances, but reside within our thoughts and attitudes toward life.
Duncan’s optimistic and cheerful attitude to life has inspired millions of people.
Not wanting to be tied to support wheels, Duncan prefers to stand on his own two feet.
