Albino alligators are so rare that most people don’t even know they exist. The current estimate is that there are only about 100 to 200 albino alligators.Wild Florida Zoohas had the opportunity to welcome several newborn albino alligators, which excites zookeepers and many reptile lovers there.
The alligator babies’ parents are Blizzard (male) and Snowflake (female). They were named so because they were totally white. They have been taken care of in the zoo since 2017 and got ready to reproduce. From 2019 to 2022, they gave Wild Florida babies each year and became their rockstar Albino Gators.

Male albino alligators can weigh around 500 pounds, and females average around 200 pounds. Blizzard is 12 years old, and Snowflake is 23 years old. Their favorite snack is chicken. There are currently only 12 recorded albino alligators living in human care.
One of the easiest ways to tell Blizzard and Snowflake apart is by looking at their size. Blizzard is about 10 feet long, and Snowflake is about 8 feet long. In addition, Blizzard’eyes are both opaque and white, similar to the color of milk. By contrast, Snowflake’s right eye is opaque white, and her left eye has two red birthmarks.

There are occasional events at the zoo for visitors to admire the albino gator family far from behind the thick glass. Many children and adults are excited to meet them. Wild Florida Zoo is one of the few places in the world where visitors can see these rare animals. FYI, the oldest albino alligator on record is Claude, a 22-year-old alligator at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
