2nd May 2024 – (New York) Taylor Swift has become the first artist ever to occupy the top 14 positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This historic achievement, spurred by the release of her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has sparked a celebratory reaction among her fan base, widely known as Swifties.
In a grand gesture of admiration, Swifties secured a prominent billboard in New York’s Times Square, showcasing a specially designed advertisement to congratulate the singer. The creative force behind the ad, Kuba Designs, incorporated a list of the 14 tracks from “The Tortured Poets Department” that clinched the top spots, alongside a playful message that hailed Swift as the “chairman” of the charts.
The message read, “Congratulations to our chairman, from the desk of The Swifties. PS: Try and come for her job.”
Since its release in late April, “The Tortured Poets Department” has not only captivated audiences but also shattered multiple records. Within its first week, the album sold over 2.61 million units, including album sales and streaming figures, in the U.S. alone. This launch has been recognized by Billboard as the largest streaming week ever for an album, as well as the record for the most significant sales week on vinyl in the modern era.
