Here on the Cosmo Fashion Desk, we love covering and trying out first-hand all the latest fashion trends. But one trend we’ve resisted so far? The no trousers look. With the temperature getting increasingly colder, it’s easy to blame our reluctance on the lack of practicality the style possesses. We want more layers RN, not less.
However, as the list of celebrity fans grows ever longer, we’re wondering if we’ve somehow managed to miss the appeal. Selena Gomez, Emily Ratajkowski, Kylie Jenner, Heidi Klum, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Kendall Jenner have all stepped out having seemingly forgotten to dress from the waist down. (Kendall on numerous occasions, making her the unofficial poster girl for the look, IMO).
And now, Taylor Swift is the latest star to ditch her trews. Stepping out in New York City yesterday, the singer wore an oversized rugby shirt as a mini dress.
Taylor styled the Stella McCartney Pony Club embroidered rugby top with brown Prada knee-high heeled boots and a Tod’s crossbody bag, at one point adding a Ralph Lauren corduroy cap on top of her long blonde hair.
As well as being a perfect autumnal ‘fit thanks to the warm hues of her accessories, the rugby top turned mini dress gave a major preppy twist to the no trousers trend. Dare we say, it’s even giving us Serena van der Woodsen vibes?
It’s the latest stunning ensemble we’ve seen Taylor rep in the past few weeks. From the sheer mesh top and leather mini she rocked on a date night with Travis Kelce to her recent red carpet looks. Her VMAs Versace dress is still living rent-free in our minds.
