The match between Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid ended with a hard-fought 2-1 victory for the defending champions, in which star duo Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jnr took turns scoring.
Goal
Celta Vigo: Swedberg (50′)
Real Madrid: Mbappe (20′), Vinicius (66′)
Returning to action in La Liga after nearly two weeks to make way for the international series, Real Madrid looked a shadow of themselves before a brilliant move from Kylian Mbappe gave the defending champions the lead in the 20th minute. The French captain picked up the ball that bounced off Eduardo Camavinga’s interception and fired a shot from more than 20 meters away, drawing a wonderful curve into the A corner of the home team’s goal.
Mbappe’s opening goal came after Celta Vigo’s Williot Swedberg missed two great opportunities for the home team in the opening minutes of the match, including an excellent save by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
However, Celta Vigo was rewarded for their efforts in the second half when youngster Swedberg took advantage of the opportunity to score an emotional equalizer. Starting from a fast and very coherent pass on the right wing, Oscar Mingueza made a cross, eliminating the entire defense, allowing Swedberg to tap the ball into the near corner to beat Courtois in the 50th minute.
Suddenly conceding a goal, Real Madrid spent a certain amount of time at the beginning of the second half confused and lost the game to the home team but luckily did not concede another goal. And at the most difficult times, the bravery of the top stars helped Los Blancos win points, especially after veteran Luka Modric entered the field in the 63rd minute to replace Federico Valverde. With his second touch, Modric launched a pass through Celta Vigo’s defense so that Vinicius Junior could beat goalkeeper Vicente Guaita in a face-to-face situation.
In the final minutes of the match, Celta Vigo tried to push the team high in search of an equalizer and they made Real Madrid’s defense wobble, the most unfortunate of which was the miss of substitute Anastasios Douvikas in the last minute. In the end, Los Blancos secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory to level the score gap with top team Barca (playing one more match).
With what has been shown, coach Carlo Ancelotti clearly still has a lot of work to do if Real Madrid wants to maintain its unbeaten record at home against Dortmund in the middle of next week and then the El Clasico match with Barca a few days later.
