The PSG homepage wrote: “Paris Saint-Germain was crowned champion of France for the 12th time. This is the 50th title in the club’s history.” The Parisian team was officially crowned after their pursuing opponent, Monaco, lost 2-3 to Lyon at Parc OL. The gap between PSG and Monaco is 12 points, while Ligue 1 only has 3 rounds left.
Mbappe won Ligue 1 for the 7th time with PSG
PSG lost only 1 of 31 matches in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 76 goals and conceding only 29 goals. This is PSG’s 10th Ligue 1 championship since Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) acquired the club in 2011, with the first championship in the 2012/13 season.
PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi said on the club’s homepage: “Congratulations to all the players, coach Luis Enrique and his staff, Luis Campos and his sporting department as well as everyone at the club.
Al Khelaifi continued: “Winning the tournament is great. But winning Ligue 1 for a 12th time makes it even more special for Paris Saint-Germain fans. Since the beginning of the season, the whole team has been very collective and united.
I will never forget the fans, who were amazing no matter the result. We will cherish this moment together as a family and will also continue to work hard, match by match until the last moment of the season.”
PSG has a chance to win a great “treble” this season. The Paris team has also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and will meet Dortmund. And yet, Mbappe and his teammates still have a French National Cup final against Lyon on May 26.
