OFFICIAL: Manchester United Finish the Season 8th in the Premier League. Their Final Chance at Glory Awaits at Wembley in One Week – FA Cup Final vs Manchester City.

Manchester United beat Brighton and Hove Albion 0-2 at the Amex Stadium this afternoon. Here are our player ratings for the game-

(A score of 6 is around average)

Andre Onana 7- Fairly confident presence with the ball and without it. Has earned his untouchable status for the summer with his improvement in the season.

Preview

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 4- The reliable lockdown defender is no longer there. He might be counting his last minutes as a United player.

Casemiro 6.5- No fairly obvious errors this game and no standout moments of quality either except for a goal-line clearance.

Lisandro Martinez 6- Has been kept busy without being troubled as Brighton kept fluffing chances or made the wrong decision. Good match practice ahead of the FA Cup final.

Preview

Diogo Dalot 7- Avoided an early booking but overcame first-half struggled to finish like a striker in the second and give United a lead out of nowhere.

Kobbie Mainoo 5- Brighton overwhelmed with their press and with Amrabat barely looking like a professional football player, let alone a Premier League player, Mainoo looked outmanned.

Sofyan Amrabat 1- “Amrabat caught in possession” could very well be the line to sum up his United career and was the anthem for him this game. Completely lacks the awareness and agility to play in the Premier League. Brutally exposed by Brighton’s press.

Scott McTominay 3- A passenger in midfield, as usual. Hovered around the opposition box to get on the end of a chance or two but missed that too.

Preview

Amad 6- Liveliest of all United attackers but that’s not a high bar to clear. United barely troubled the Brighton box outside of the goals but he looked inventive and confident.

Alejandro Garnacho 5- Looks knackered as this was his 37th consecutive start. Will be thankful for a week’s break before taking to the FA Cup final.

Bruno Fernandes 4- Huffed and puffed up front to no avail as Brighton barely let United into their attacking groove. Got booked near the end of the first half with a lazy lunge.

Substitutes:

Jonny Evans 6- Came on as Martinez was protected and did his usual deep sweeping-up job well.

Rasmus Hojlund 8- Added a physical presence up top that allowed United to relieve the pressure with an aerial ball sometimes. Finished late on to secure United’s win and keep his streak alive.

Marcus Rashford 6- Tried to run at the defence after coming on late but it would be a huge surprise if he starts the final on current form.

Christian Eriksen 6.5- A progressive pass or two showed glimpses of the Dane pre-injury last season as he combined with Hojlund for United’s second.

Manager Erik ten Hag 5– The win through those goals was effectively a get-out-of-jail-free card. Huge structural problems saw United get dominated by Brighton for most of the game. Nobody is expecting anything from the FA Cup final if he sets the team up like this.
