Michael Jordan might not be thrilled that his son Marcus is in a relationship with Larsa Pippen, but Marcus is optimistic that his old man will come around. During a recent conversation on the Pablo Torres Finds Out podcast, Marcus announced his plans to have Michael as his best man, should he and Larsa end up getting married.

“I was the best man at his wedding, and the best man at my brother’s wedding, so obviously, we’ll keep the tradition going,” he said.

In July this year, Michael was asked by reporters whether or not he approved of his son’s romance with Larsa Pippen—the ex-wife of his former Chicago Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen—and the NBA legend replied with a simple and resounding: “No!”

The Real Housewives of Miami star has bragged to her castmates that she and Scottie used to have sex four times every single night. Larsa has also stated that her current relationship is not lacking in that department either, saying that Marcus “wears a size 15 shoe” so “he’s OK.”

It could be that Michael doesn’t like the way Larsa talks so publicly about the private details of her relationships. Or, it could simply be down to his old beef with his old fellow Bull.

The feud between Jordan and Pippen runs deep, dating back more than 20 years. The schism between the two was explored in the documentary The Last Dance: Jordan said he felt that Pippen was “selfish” to postpone surgery until the ’97-’98 season, affecting his availability with the Bulls amid trade rumors. Pippen has since stated he was “wounded and disappointed” by Jordan’s version of events.

Larsa herself has said that she is “embarrassed” and “traumatized” by her potential father-in-law’s public derision of her relationship with Marcus, and that she herself does not find it inappropriate that she is dating the son of her ex-husband’s old teammate.

“It’s not awkward for us to be together because it’s us,” she said on her and Marcus’ podcast Separation Anxiety, before going on to acknowledge that she can see Michael’s point of view: “I feel like for them it probably is weird, it probably is weird for your dad.”
