Lebron James Posts Touching Family Photo After Son Bronny’s Health Emergency At Usc Basketball Practice
Earlier this month, LeBron James was photographed alongside his wife and three children at the ESPY Awards. This event took on added significance after his son Bronny, 18, suffered a cardiac arrest during a basketball practice at the University of Southern California (USC) on Monday.
LeBron, 38, posted a heartfelt photo on Instagram on Thursday featuring himself, his wife Savannah, and their three children—Bronny, 18, Bryce, 16, and Zhuri, 8. The family, dressed in coordinating red, white, and black outfits, posed together with their arms around each other, beaming with pride as Zhuri displayed the trophy awarded to her father for his groundbreaking achievements.
LeBron captioned the post simply with a “❤️,” reflecting the deep love and unity within the James family during this challenging time.
Bronny was discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Thursday, where he had been receiving treatment following his cardiac arrest. A statement on the medical center’s website praised the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, noting that Bronny was fully conscious and stable upon arrival and had suffered no neurological damage.
LeBron provided an update on Bronny’s condition, expressing optimism for his son’s recovery. “Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and the support of his family and community,” LeBron stated.
LeBron also took to social media to thank everyone for their support. “I would want to express my gratitude to the innumerable individuals who are keeping my family in their thoughts and prayers. We feel you, and I cannot express how thankful I am,” he wrote. “I hope that everyone is doing well. We are able to keep our family together, keep everyone well, and experience the love that you have for us. I will have more to say when we are ready, but in the meantime, I just wanted to express to everyone how much we appreciate all of your support! #JamesGang.”
On Tuesday, a representative for the James family confirmed to PEOPLE that Bronny had suffered a cardiac arrest during a workout at USC. The medical staff treated him immediately, and he was transported to the hospital. He is now out of critical condition and has been released from intensive care. The family has requested privacy and will provide updates as necessary.
LeBron and Savannah publicly expressed their deepest thanks to the USC medical and athletic staff for their exceptional care and dedication.
Bronny, a rising basketball star, was taken to the hospital from USC’s Galen Center at approximately 9:26 a.m. on Monday. He had committed to attend USC in May, and LeBron, a proud father, had previously expressed his excitement and pride for Bronny’s decision to go to college.
LeBron shared his emotions, saying, “Not only am I extremely proud of him, but so is the rest of our family. For me personally, it is even more special to me because it is the first time someone out of my family is going to college.” He added, “It’s a moment that fills me with pride to watch my kid graduate from high school and head off to college for the first time in our family’s history. I’m super duper proud, super emotional, but just super duper excited and happy for his journey.
