On his personal Instagram page, Mbappe has just posted a message indicating his readiness to play in the France national team’s match against the Netherlands on June 22 in their second group D fixture. The 25-year-old player wrote: “No risk, no victory.” Earlier, there were numerous reports suggesting Mbappe had minimal chances of featuring in the match against the Netherlands. Good news for fans of the French team emerged when Coach Deschamps revealed that the 25-year-old’s surgery would not take place in the near future.
Instead, the new recruit for Real Madrid will undergo surgery after the conclusion of France’s EURO 2024 campaign, possibly sometime in July. Sharing with reporters, Coach Deschamps stated: “This Wednesday there will be more tests to assess Mbappe’s progress. It was a strong collision. Medical staff did everything necessary to minimize the severity as much as possible. Even if surgery is not immediate, Mbappe will have to undergo it after EURO 2024. He has improved a bit, so we will wait and see. We are closely monitoring Mbappe’s situation daily.”
Despite reports from L’Equipe (France) suggesting Mbappe still hopes to participate in the match against the Netherlands, it remains to be seen whether this will be feasible. Therefore, Mbappe is likely to be available for the remainder of EURO 2024, even if he may only return for the match against Poland on June 25.
In the event “Les Bleus” finish in one of the top two positions in Group D, they will have until early July off before entering the round of 16, allowing Mbappe additional recovery time for his injury.
As for Real Madrid, Mbappe undergoing surgery just before starting training for the new season is not ideal. However, the star, who has just signed a new contract with “Los Blancos,” is expected to recover in just a few weeks before joining his new teammates.
With La Liga starting just over a month after the EURO 2024 final, Mbappe is likely to be fit enough to feature in Real Madrid’s opening match in mid-August.
