But what happens when the day doesn’t live up to these expectations? When the phone doesn’t ring, the inbox remains empty, and no notifications pop up with messages of “Happy Birthday!”? Feeling forgotten on your birthday is painful, but it doesn’t diminish your value as a person. While it’s natural to feel sad and disappointed when others don’t remember, it’s also a chance to practice self-love and self-compassion. You deserve to be celebrated, even if it means being the one to do the celebrating. So today, I choose to acknowledge my own worth and to find joy in the small moments of self-reflection and gratitude. Yes, I am sad that no one has wished me well, but I am still here, and that’s something worth celebrating.
