Many Old Trafford supporters were originally happy to hear of his probable exit, but many have since demanded that he be given a new contract.
Following Wednesday’s victory over Newcastle United, a picture of Varane sitting alone on the field and obviously thinking back on his time with the team went viral. This prompted the calls.
One Red Devils supporter wrote on X: “I still can’t understand why we haven’t offered him a realistic new contract around 120+ ish based on his age etc.
“If he pops up in the PL next year playing against us I won’t be happy.”
Another said: “I’ve changed my mind give him a one-year deal.”
And another said: “Big, big mistake.”
One remarked: “Unfortunately his contract is too big for how often he’s available. When fit, I love him.”
Another chimed in: “Players/professionals like him are so easy to love, so difficult to hate.
“Been a while since I have been emotional about this club, this picture be doing that.”
Varane, 31, announced his summer departure from the Theatre of Dreams earlier this week in a heartfelt video to United fans.
He said: “To you guys, supporters of Manchester United.

“The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player, it was insаne. The atmosphere was amazing.
“I fell in love with the club and the fans. You have to play for Man Utd to understand what that represents.

“When the fans go to Wembley, it’s something they remember for life.
