Erik ten Hag, the boss of Manchester United, needs to take midfielder Christian Eriksen off against Arsenal on Sunday because he played poorly at Crystal Palace last night.
In his first game back as a starter, the Dane hasn’t looked good at all, but Ten Hag still put him in the middle of the field with Kobbie Mainoo against the Eagles.
The 32-year-old had a hard time keeping things under control, so the choice was pointless. He didn’t win any of the ground or air duels he fought at Selhurst Park.
He also lost the ball 15 times in 90 minutes, even though he passed the ball 82% of the time.
Mainoo, on the other hand, was much better. He won eight duels and passed 94% of the time. The club graduate only lost the ball seven times during the game.
Eriksen should not start when United plays Arsenal at Old Trafford, in our opinion.
The player who used to play for Inter Milan has been getting worse this season, and we don’t think he has earned his spot in the starting lineup over the last few weeks.
Bruno Fernandes missed his first senior game because he hurt his ankle and hand. Yesterday, the club captain was really missed. In the last third, United lacked the killing edge.
Fans are going to be hopeful that he can play against the Gunners. If the Portuguese went back to the XI, Mount could drop down to the eighth spot and play lower.
If not, we’d rather have Sofyan Amrabat play with Mainoo and Mount as the number 10 player. Last night, Amrabat won three duels and looked lively during his 30-minute show.
