The puppy was suffering from distemper and knew she was on her deathbed. When she saw someone passing by, she made a last-ditch plea for help.
Canine distemper is one of the main causes of death of unvaccinated stray dogs. This infectious virus, which targets the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous systems of dogs, is frequently fatal.
In this video, we observe the staff of Animal Aid Unlimited trying to rescue a homeless puppy suffering from canine distemper. The dog has been infected for several weeks but has not received treatment because she is a homeless baby. She was eventually found lying on the side of the road, wagging her tail for rescue.
The rescuers realized that the dog was about to die, but they wanted to give her a chance to recover. She received 14 days of intensive care treatment, which included antibiotics and fluids. Although she felt extremely unwell, the dog was grateful for someone to take care of her for the first time in her life.
She gradually improved with each passing day! When the puppy regained the power to stand on all fours and walk again, it was a magical moment for the nursing team! She was so overjoyed with her victory that she dashed to her saviors and hugged them tightly. Her bright smiles and never-ending tail wags made our day!
