Bonnie, a curious pup from Mareeba, Queensland, got her head stuck in the small center bore of a wheel rim while exploring. Panicking and unable to free herself, she whimpered in distress. Her owner tried everything, from pulling gently to using water, but nothing worked.

Realizing help was needed, her owner called emergency services. The Mareeba Fire and Rescue team, along with a veterinarian, quickly arrived. They considered cutting through the metal but opted for a gentler approach with olive oil to reduce friction and carefully worked to free Bonnie.

After an hour of patient effort, Bonnie’s head finally slipped free. She was shaken but unharmed, except for some soreness around her neck. The vet checked her over, prescribed rest, and Bonnie received plenty of love from her relieved owner.
