Bruno Fernandes acknowledges that Manchester United “put themselves in a difficult position to win matches,” but he commends the team’s character for rallying once again, securing a 4-2 victory over Sheffield United.
After Manchester United came back to beat Sheffield United, Bruno Fernandes praised the team’s spirit.
On Sunday, Erik ten Hag’s team stumbled through an FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City at Wembley, getting through on penalties. The crowd laughed at them.
They were down 2-1 at Old Trafford after controlling the first half, but Fernandes scored twice and set up another to help United get a much-needed win.
“We generally desire to keep our clean sheets.” Fernandes said, “Good job to Sheffield United.”
It was over, and we came back. We did things that made it hard for us to win games. It also shows some character.
Another thing we need to remember is that we need to score when we have the chance if we want to keep the game under control like we did in the first half.
“We’re getting a lot of goals.” It’s all about how close we need to be as a team.
With 15 goals so far this season, Fernandes is on track to be United’s Player of the Season.
On Wednesday night, he scored his first goal from the penalty spot and his second from far away.
“I love scoring goals, but I want to win games more,” he said. “Goalscoring is also part of my job.” I really want to win games, though.
This past month, we haven’t won as many as we should have.
No problem, it’s part of the job. People will criticize you when you lose after winning eight or nine games in a row. As a Manchester United player, you have to win games.
