Lee Asher grew up in Los Angeles, California, in an unusual family: nine rescued animals who lived alone. Since he was a child, Asher felt that his destiny was to help animals in need, and he had already rescued 16 of them.
Asher spent a lot of time at an animal shelter near his house, learning about the rescue process. There he realized that his mission in life would be to rescue animals and help them find homes.
“I always knew he would grow up with a house full of rescue animals,” Asher told The Dodo. “So where I am today is no surprise to me or anyone who has known me since I was a child.”
Asher welcomed seven dogs into his home: Yaffa, Molly, Cali, BoBo, Butters, Haven and Lillie, and two cats: Whiskey and Goose.
He has always been able to help these animals. They were all rescued from different types of abandonment and now live wonderful lives because of him.
“The inspiration comes from a love of dogs and the understanding that by rescuing a dog, you are not only saving a life, but you are also creating space for more rescued animals to be adopted,” explains Asher. “It’s a win-win situation and it feels great.”
Asher is an inspiring example of compassion and dedication to animals. His story shows that one person can make a big difference in the lives of many living beings.
